Fatal fire ruled an accident

POCONO TWP – A Tannersville house fire that killed an elderly woman was an accident, says a local fire chief.

The early morning fire killed Anna Starner, 82.  It appears she died from carbon monoxide inhalation.

The blaze in the home on Old Mill Road appears to have started in the kitchen, but exactly what started the fire had not been determined as of late Friday.

The fire was discovered by a passerby at about 1 a.m.  By the time fire companies arrived, the mostly wooden house was fully involved.
