Two convicted of burglaries sentenced to prison terms

MILFORD – Two men, convicted of unrelated burglaries, were sentenced to time in state prison.

David Betz,  34, of Glen Spey, NY was sentenced to a State Correctional Facility for 21 months to 5 years, and ordered to pay a fine of $500 for the crime of Criminal Conspiracy to Commit Burglary. On August 23, 2007, Betz and a co-defendant agreed to enter a residence in Birchwood Lakes, and took several items of personal property from the residence including 3 DVD players, a Cannon Camera, a Sony PlayStation, 40 games, a watch, U.S. Currency, and perfume.

Blazej Szczesnick,  27, of Shohola, PA was sentenced to a State Correctional Facility for 2 to 4 years, and ordered to pay a fine of $1,600 for the crime of Burglary. In November 2010, Szczesnick entered a residence in Dingman Township, and took numerous items of personal property including a Remington shotgun, knives and cash. In a separate incident on December 31, 2010, Szczesnick entered a home in Lackawaxen Township taking numerous items of personal property.

 

Other criminal sentences were issued by Pike County President Judge Joseph Kameen:

Christopher Miller,  30, of Milford, PA was sentenced to one year of probation and ordered to pay a fine of $300 for the crime of Possession with Intent to Use Drug Paraphernalia. On July 22, 2009, in Westfall Township, Miller was found in possession of a grinder, and a small wooden box used to conceal a controlled substance.

Andrew Arizan,  18, of Milford, PA was sentenced to the Pike County Correctional Facility for 14 days to 11 ½ months followed by an additional year of probation and ordered to pay a fine of $200 for the crime of Resisting Arrest. On November 7, 2011, Arizan resisted arrest of an Eastern Pike Regional Officer.

Shawn Pedersen,  23, of Montague, NJ was sentenced to a State Correctional Facility for 4 to 10 years, and ordered to pay a fine of $3, 000 for the crime of Delivery of a Controlled Substance. Pedersen sold to an undercover detective on three occasions. On March 23, 2011, and March 31, 2011 Pedersen sold two bundles of heroin for             $300 in Westfall Township.  On April 13, 2011, in Dingman Township, Pedersen sold 1.9 grams of heroin for $790.

Joseph Burigo,  27, of Slate Hill, NY was sentenced to the Pike County Correctional Facility for 3 months and 13 days to 18 months, ordered to pay a fine of          $1,400, and had his driver’s license suspended for 18 months for the crimes of Driving Under the Influence, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Driver’s Required to be Licensed. On February 5, 2011, in Matamoras Borough, Burigo was found to be driving under the influence of Marihuana, and without a valid driver’s license. Burigo was also found in possession of Xanax, and Marihuana. In a separate incident on February 24, 2011 in Westfall Township, Burigo was found in possession of Xanax.

Veree Gilliland,  28, of Dingmans Ferry, PA was sentenced to the Intermediate Punishment Program for 5 years, ordered to pay a fine of $1,500 and had her driver’s license suspended for 18 months for the crime of Driving Under the Influence. On May 29, 2011, Gilliland was found to be driving under the influence. Her blood alcohol level was .150%.

Michael Riley,  23, of East Stroudsburg, PA was sentenced to one year of probation and ordered to pay a fine of $200 for the crime of Criminal Mischief. On March 7, 2011, in Westfall Township, Riley scratched the paint off the rear door of a vehicle.
