Commissioner races top ballots in Monroe, Pike

POCONOS – Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. as voters decide on some key county raises as well as many municipal offices.

There is the typical four-way contest for three commissioner seats in both Monroe and Pike, but there is  bit of an unusual twist in Pike County.  Pike could conceivably wind up with three Republican commissioners for the next four years.

Pam Lutfy placed out of the running on the Republican line in the primary last spring, but, she received enough write-in votes on the Democrat line to appear on the general election ballot.  Incumbent Democrat Karl Wagner had no opponent in the primary.  The two Republican candidates are Incumbent Rich Caridi and current Milford Borough Council President Matt Osterberg.

A more traditional contest takes place in Monroe County.  Democrat incumbents Suzanne McCool and Theresa Merli face Republicans Charlie Garris and John Moyer.
