Charter school pleased with state decision allowing it to stay open |

TOBYHANNA - The Pocono Mountain Charter School says it is pleased with the Charter Appeals Board’s ruling against the Pocono Mountain School District’s revocation of their operating charter. “We are glad that Charter Appeals Board recognized the good job that our school is doing of educating students and look forward to continuing to provide area families a sound public school option”, says a statement posted on the charter school’s website. PMSD argued that the charter school violated rules with his relationship to the Shawnee Tabernacle Church, and use of religious symbols. PMCS claims that during its campaign to revoke the charter, the Pocono Mountain School District spent more than $1 million of taxpayer money in legal fees—at a time when the district was cutting important student programs. “It is our hope that the Board of Trustees of the Pocono Mountain School District accepts the Charter Appeals Board’s ruling and spares families further legal expenditures they simply cannot afford.” |
