Heavy rain poses localized flood threat

POCONOS - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation advises motorists Route 611 is closed in Monroe and Northampton counties because of a rock slide caused by heavy rain today.

The closure is between Gallery Lane in Upper Mount Bethel Township, Northampton County and Waring Drive/Mountain Road in Delaware Water Gap Borough, Monroe County.

PennDOT warns motorists not to drive around barricades or signs on closed roads. Also, never drive across roads covered with water because the water may be deeper than it looks – Turn Around, Don’t Drown.

Heavy rain expected into Thursday will continue to pose a threat of localized flooding, but no major flooding is expected.
