Wrong-way driver killed in crash, another driver injured

HAMILTON TWP – An early morning crash on Route 33 near Wind GAp killed one man and seriously injured a woman. 

Police say it appears Richard Gentry, 21, of Saylorsburg, was drunk when he headed north in the southbound lane of Route 33, triggering a three-vehicle crash.  Gentry slammed into an SUV driven by Donna Albenese, 39, of Saylorsburg.  A third vehicle, a pickup, driven by Brian Holden, 47, of Effort, hit Albenese’s vehicle.

Gentry was dead at the scene. 

Albenese was flown to a Bethlehem hospital with multiple injuries.  Holden was not hurt.

Route 33 was closed for several hours following the crash at which happened about 3 a.m.
