Pike dedicates training center

BLOOMING GROVE - Pike County’s  long awaited Training Center off Route 739 located near the Pike County Jail Complex, was dedicated on Sunday. Present for the dedication were  Pike County Commissioners Richard Caridi and Matt Osterberg, Senator Lisa Baker, Representative Mike Peifer, and Congressman Tom Marino.

The 250 acres on which the training center and jail are located was purchased in 1990 for $750,000. Created with spearheading the land purchase is former Pike Commissioner and former Milford Mayor Skip Gregory and former Commissioner Willis Gilpin.

The Training Center houses a multitude of offices and classrooms, the 911 call center which will begin operating in a month, and an emergency management center which will be able to handle natural and manmade disasters.
