STROUD TWP - On June 1, a detective from the Monroe County District Attorney's Office responded by email to an advertisement on Craigslist for a “male seeking a female” to "smoke with". The ad on Craigslist stated "Any females into 420. It’s nice out let's go smoke. Email if interested."

“420” is a universal term used for marijuana.

During an email communication, the author of the advertisement,  Brian Ryder of East Stroudsburg, arranged for a meeting at the Stroud Mall on Route 611 in with who he thought was an interested female.

On his way to the “meeting” Ryder was pulled over by the detective. As he promised, Ryder had marijuana and drug paraphernalia in his possession. Ryder was arrested on charges of possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and an expired inspection on his Ford pick-up truck.

Ryder was processed on Monday at the new booking center at the Monroe County Correctional Facility and released on $5000 unsecured bail.
