New drug take-back box coming to Pike County

MILFORD - After a year-long effort to get a new policy in place in Pennsylvania, the first ever drug take-back box in the commonwealth, not connected with a law enforcement agency, will open in Pike County.

“It has taken a year to get the new policy in place,” said County Commissioner Matt Osterberg.  ”This is a joint effort between the Commissioners’ office, the District Attorney’s Office and a private pharmacy.”

The unveiling of the drug take-back box will be held at noon on January 9 at the Lords Valley Village Pharmacy, 658 Rte. 739. State Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs Secretary Gary Tennis will provide remarks.  Also attending will be the Pike Commissioners, the Pike County District Attorney and DEA Special Agent in Charge Gary Tuggle.  All are invited to attend.
