Pike jury convicts man for sexual relationship with underage girl

MILFORD - Jonathan Machiavello, 27, was found guilty on three counts of statutory sexual assault for an incident occurring in Dingman Township.  The convictions came after a two-day jury trial that ended on January 20.  The jury deliberated for approximately four hours.  Machiavello had also previously been convicted by a separate jury of three counts of indecent assault in relation to the same incidents.

The charges were the result of acts occurring between July 21st and August 5th of 2014.  Machiavello was engaging in a sexual relationship with a then 15-year-old girl.  The relationship was discovered by a parent who promptly reported the matter to the Pennsylvania State Police.

Bruce DeSarro, who prosecuted the case at trial, said “we are very thankful for the courage and resolve shown by the victim and her family throughout the court process.”

Machiavello’s bail was increased to $50,000 after the verdict.  He has remained in the Pike County Correctional Facility since his initial arrest.  Machiavello will be sentenced on March 2 and is subject to reporting requirements for 25 years under Megan’s Law.
