Blizzard conditions batter region

POCONOS – Up to two feet of snow will cover much of northeast Pennsylvania and much of the northeast U.S. by the time the biggest storm in years winds down later today.

The snow began overnight with several inches accumulating before daybreak.  Travel is described as treacherous, even on the interstates.   Crews are working but the intensity of the storm makes keeping up difficult.

Wind will become a problem later on.  That will likely mean power outages.

All area schools and many government offices are closed for the day.
