Stroudsburg man arrested on drugs, other charges

STROUDSBURG - Members of the Monroe County Drug Task Force and the Pennsylvania State Police Special Emergency Response Team accompanied by Monroe County Children and Youth Services conducted a search warrant on Wednesday at a residence on King Street in Stroudsburg Borough. Claude Turner, 37 of Stroudsburg was arrested on several charges relating to the sale of marijuana, possession of a firearm and endangering the welfare of his children.

An investigation began in October of 2016 when District Attorney Detective Kim Lippincott received information from several sources indicating that Turner was selling marijuana out of his residence on King Street in Stroudsburg Borough. Throughout the investigation she learned that Turner resides with his four minor children and his wife. Information also indicated that Turner had possession of a firearm. Turner, already a convicted felon, cannot legally possess a firearm.

While searching the residence after a forced entry, officers found that a handgun was stored on the floor in a closet, accessible to Turner and the minor children. There was also a safe in the closet near the gun. In the safe officers found $1,400 US Currency, marijuana packaged for sale and other materials utilized to package and sell drugs.

Turner has been charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a firearm, criminal use of a communication facility, possession of instruments of a crime, four counts of endangering the welfare of children and several misdemeanors.

Bail was set at $100,000 secured. Turner will appear for a preliminary hearing on March 27th
