Man with suspended license charged after driving into snowbank

CLINTON TWP – State police responded Sunday evening to a report that a minivan had gone off Route 296 and into a snowbank.  The report came from a witness who said the driver, Patrick Estus, 57, of Clifton, PA, who appeared to be highly intoxicated, asked the witness to pull him out of the vehicle.

The witness decided to wait for police to arrive.

Police report that as they arrived, Estus appeared to put some gum in his mouth, possibly in attempt to cover the alcohol on his breath.  That didn’t work.  Estus, who refused a blood test at Wayne Memorial Hospital, was charged with driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license and other offences.
