Serial armed robber sentenced to prison

Rodriguez

STROUDSBURG – A Bushkill man will spend to four to ten years in a state prison for a trio of armed robberies, last summer, including two at the same bank. Previously, Rodriguez pled guilty to three counts of robbery.

Oscar Rodriguez, 43, of Bushkill, twice entered the Wayne Bank, in Middle Smithfield Township, while wearing a Halloween costume and armed with a handgun.  He escaped with over $5,000 dollars. He was able to avoid capture until committing the third and final robbery at a Subway last October.

During sentencing, Rodriguez accepted responsibility for his actions and apologized for any pain he caused the victims. Assistant District Attorney David Marra requested a lengthy term of incarceration, pointing out the premediated nature of the armed robberies and Rodriguez’s previous theft convictions. Judge Jonathan Mark agreed
