Gun stolen in Marshalls Creek used in NY shooting

NEWBURGH NY– Members of the new Non-Fatal Shooting Task Force in Newburgh arrested a Newburgh resident who was wanted on a felony warrant issued by Orange County Court last November.

Syed Abdul-Khabir, 17, was found in possession of drugs. A search of his residence Newburgh yielded a large quantity of suspected heroin and a loaded .357 revolver that had been reported stolen in 2007 from Marshalls Creek.  Abdul-Khabir was arrested without incident.

He is charged for the shooting that wounded a taxi driver who was struck while parked in his vehicle in downtown Newburgh on February 2 of this year.

Abdul-Khabir was charged with criminal use of a firearm, possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment, assault, possession of a controlled substance, possession of stolen property, and possession of a weapo
