Monroe inmate caught with drugs

HAMILTON TWP – A correctional officer at the Monroe County Correctional Facility discovered suspected crystal meth concealed on defendant Jennifer Gongora, 31, of Kunkletown. Gongora was originally arrested by officers from the Mahoning Valley Police Department on an outstanding Monroe County warrant and subsequently housed at the Carbon County Correctional Facility awaiting transport to the Monroe County Correctional Facility.

Once at the Monroe County Correctional Facility Gongora was searched during routine processing, revealing a packet of suspected crystal methamphetamine.  Gongora admitted the substance to be crystal methamphetamine and further admitted to using other illicit drugs, namely heroin.

Gongora was charged with several misdemeanors, and one felony, possession of controlled substance contraband by an inmate.  She remains in jail on her original Monroe County charges pending a preliminary hearing on these new drug charges.
