ESU partners with hospital to provide health services to students

EAST STROUDSBURG - East Stroudsburg University entered into an agreement with Lehigh Valley Hospital–Pocono (LVH–Pocono) to provide basic ambulatory health services to its students, effective July 1.

“At ESU, we are constantly looking for ways to improve our services to students,” said Doreen Tobin, D.Ed., vice president of student affairs at ESU.  “Changing the location of where we provide health services and adding improved accessibility with additional locations and hours are just a few examples of meeting the needs of students and putting them first in all we do.  Following a competitive solicitation of interested health care providers, an arrangement with LVH–Pocono offered a combination of variety of health care services, convenience, affordability and access that will benefit ESU students.”

“Lehigh Valley Hospital–Pocono and East Stroudsburg University enjoy a strong working relationship in many initiatives that enhance each of our organizations and this is a new service that we are very excited to provide,” said Elizabeth Wise, president of LVH–Pocono.

According to Dr. Tobin, the transition from ESU’s Health Services Center to the LVH–Pocono will begin when students return to campus this fall on August 25.  The services provided by LVH-Pocono will allow the University to offer a number of additional advantages to students at no additional cost:

ESU students will have dedicated access to care seven days per week at the ExpressCARE located on the LVH-Pocono campus in East Stroudsburg. Located at 200 East Brown Street, ESU students can receive care from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 12:00 p.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.  Students will also have access to ExpressCARE services from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at ExpressCare but will be comingled with other patients from the community.
