Suspect charged with murder in death of Temple U student

PAUPACK TWP – Police in Wayne County filed charges of murder, abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence against the suspect in the killing of a Temple University student whose body was dumped in a gated development

The body of Jenna Burleigh, 22, was found on Paupack Township property belonging to the grandmother of the prime suspect in the student’s death.

State Police charged Joshua Hupperterz, 29, of Jenkintown, with brutally killing Burleigh.  Both had been seen in a Philadelphia Bar in the early morning hours of Thursday, August 31.

A coroner investigation indicates she died of blunt force trauma and strangulation.  Police speculate Hupperterz put the body in a car and drove to Paupack Township.

Media reports also say police do not believe Burleigh and Hupperterz had a prior relationship.
