Pike residents to pay more for car registration

MILFORD - The Pike County Commissioners voted to enact Act 89 of 2013, The Transportation Bill, to increase car registration fees beginning in 2018. Act 89, signed into law by Governor Tom Wolf, allows Pike County to add $5.00 per car registration for a designated use.

The Commissioners hope to gain $350,000 to $400,000 per year from the fee implementation. The money collected will go into a Fee for Local Use Fund to help pay for the upkeep of the 17 bridges the county owns according to Commissioner Matt Osterberg. “ PennDot has funds to help match the amount a county collects,” said Osterberg.

The Commissioners felt that $5.00 increase would be better for residents than increasing tax millage.
