Stewart

STROUDSBURG - Lanterman & Allen Funeral Director Angeliegha Stewart, 27, of East Stroudsburg was charged on Friday with abuse of corpse, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and other crimes, following an investigation that began last month..

Monroe County detectives received information from several confidential sources claiming that Stewart was flaunting photographs of deceased persons to her friends and family and selling marijuana. After receiving complaints and conducting a thorough investigation detectives obtained search warrants for several cell phones.

Detectives seized a cell phone containing several alarming photographs.  Stewart admitted to taking those photographs, saying she took them to share with colleagues. She also admitted showing one specific, gruesome photograph to her ex-boyfriend to ‘gross him out’ because he was disturbed by it.

The investigation into the identities of the deceased persons in the photographs is ongoing.

Stewart was released on her own recognizance.
