NPS issues request for proposals for lease of Marie Zimmermann property

Zimmerman House

BUSHKILL - The National Park Service has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a ten-year lease of the historic Marie Zimmermann House, garage, and 3.4 acres of property according to Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area Superintendent John Donahue.  The property is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and is located on Zimmermann Road off US Route 209 between mile markers 14 and 15.  The house was built about 1910 and is a large 2 1/2-story fieldstone structure featuring 9 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and approximately 6,400 square feet of space. It was the home of noted artist Marie Zimmermann (1879-1972).

“The Marie Zimmermann House has been carefully restored to its former glory as the artist’s home,” said Donahue.  “We are looking for an equally creative entrepreneur who is interested in using this unique site as a venue for events like weddings and reunions while still allowing public access to one of the park’s most treasured historic sites.”

Information on the property and leasing terms and the forms required to submit a proposal can be found at www.fbo.gov/spg/DOI/NPS/APC-IS/DEWA_RFP-Zimmerman_House/listing.html. Completed proposal packages must be submitted by November 21, 2017.  A pre-submittal conference and site tour of the offered property is scheduled for Friday, October 27 at 10 am. For more information, questions, or to RSVP for the site visit contact Cynthia Branley, Leasing Program Manager, by phone at (570) 420-9782 or by email at Cynthia_Branley@nps.gov.
