Monroe man guilty on several drug charges

STROUDSBURG – A Tobyhanna man was found guilty of one count of possession with intent to deliver heroin, one count of possession of heroin, one count of possession of marijuana and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.  David Hassan Ali Haywood, 31, was convicted following a one-day jury trial

The charges resulted from an incident which occurred on April 4, 2016, where police officers from the Pocono Township Police Department responded to a residence on Image Drive in Pocono Township for a domestic dispute.   Upon arriving at the residence, the Officers detected the odor of marijuana on Haywood and within the residence in which Haywood had been exiting.  He was also seen removing his clothes from the residence and was believed to be placing them in one of the vehicles parked at the home.  He was detained pending a search of the residence and the vehicles.  Following the search, Officers recovered 750 packets of heroin, packaged and ready for sale in the vehicle as well as 20 packets of heroin within the home.   The investigation was led by the Pocono Township Police Department, with assistance of State Police.

Prior to this conviction, on October 12, 2017, Haywood was also convicted of one count of Possession with Intent to Deliver Heroin, 210 packets of heroin as well as Possession of Heroin and Drug Paraphernalia after a one-day jury trial before Judge Zulick.  Those charges resulted from a traffic stop of Haywood’s vehicle.

The Monroe County District Attorney’s Office will be seeking a significant sentence of incarceration in state prison against Haywood at the sentencing hearing.
