Food cart operator charged with fraud

Scifo

KUNKLETOWN - After receiving multiple consumer complaints beginning in June of this year Robert William Scifo, Jr., 34, of Kunkletown, was arrested Thursday by Monroe County District Attorney detectives, charged with four felony counts of theft by deception, four felony counts of theft by unlawful taking, two misdemeanor counts of theft by unlawful taking and two misdemeanor counts of theft by deception.

Scifo, operating a company called Crown Food Carts, allegedly collected $28, 000 between October 30, 2016 and July 15, 2017 from six customers and failed to deliver the products or services promised.

Scifo solicited customers from his web site.

Scifo claimed to manufacture custom food trailers, food cart accessories and concession equipment, with a corporate office in Wilmington DE and sales partners in Chile, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. In these six instances Scifo either failed to deliver the items he collected funds for, or substituted inferior items including food carts, a custom equipped food truck and food cart accessories. Customers were from New York, Pennsylvania, California and Texas.

Scifo was released on $25,000.00 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Monday, November 27.
