Guilty plea in child porn case

STROUDSBURG – An East Stroudsburg man pled guilty in Monroe County court moments before his trial was set to begin on charges that he possessed and disseminated child pornography images online.

Erik Decker, 22, was arrested earlier this year following an investigation by detectives from the Monroe County Office of the District Attorney.  In March, Decker uploaded a photograph of a nude young girl, approximately eight years old, showing evidence of sexual activity.  That image was discovered by the staff of Chatstep, who reported it to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

That report was forwarded to Detective Brian Webbe of the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office.

Investigation eventually led detectives to Decker’s apartment on Elk Street in East Stroudsburg where investigators found a computer with 49 images of child pornography depicting children between a few months old up to approximately ten years old engaged in sex acts with adults.

Further forensic analysis recovered additional evidence showing Decker was the individual responsible for the reported photograph having been uploaded to Chatstep.

Decker pled guilty to one count each of disseminating child pornography, possessing child pornography and criminal use of a communication facility, all felonies.

Decker’s bail was increased to $50,000.  He is in the Monroe County Correctional Facility to await sentencing, which is tentatively scheduled for February 20.  He faces a maximum sentence of up to 27 years and/or a $65,000 fine.
