Pike County Court sentencing
MILFORD - The following criminal sentences were issued by Pike County Court of Common Pleas Judge Gregory Chelak:
Joshua I. Gutierrez, 30, of Milford, PA, was sentenced to 12 months of probation and fined $300 for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The state police pulled Gutierrez over along Log Tavern Road in Dingman Township on January 21, 2017, for no license plate illumination on his vehicle. While speaking with Gutierrez, the trooper detected the smell of Marihuana. Gutierrez admitted to smoking Marihuana in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed a glass pipe.
Melinda Rose Meglio, 25, of Hawley, PA, was sentenced to 4 months to 12 months in the Pike County Jail, fined $300 and had her driver’s license suspended for 6 months for Possession of a Controlled Substance. State police arrived at a residence on January 1, 2017, in Lackawaxen Township to serve a warrant on an individual and found Meglio in possession of Heroin.
Thomas Skala, 56, of Milford, PA, was sentenced to 12 months of probation and fined $700 for Receiving Stolen Property. The state police investigated a break in that occurred at a business in Lackawaxen Township on March 13, 2016, where $700 was stolen. Skala was the individual who took the money.
Criscroft Ford, 52, of Hawley, PA, was sentenced to 72 hours to 6 months in the Pike County Jail, fined $1,000 and had his driver’s license suspended for 12 months for Driving Under the Influence. Eastern Pike Regional Police pulled over Ford along Route 6 & 209 in Westfall Township on March 17, 2017, for erratic driving. In speaking with Ford, the officer detected the smell of an alcoholic beverage. Field Sobriety Tests were conducted which showed impairment and a breath test confirmed a blood alcohol content of .178%.
Derek John Hinkel, 29, of Milford, PA, was sentenced to 1 month to 12 months in the Pike County Jail, followed by 6 months of probation and a fine of $1,000 for Simple Assault and Criminal Mischief. The state police responded to a domestic dispute on August 4, 2017, in Delaware Township, where Hinkel punched the head of an individual into her vehicle windshield and steering wheel, causing injury and then smashed her cell phone.
Vincent Levier, 45, of Greentown, PA, was sentenced to 2 years of probation and fined $200 for Harassment and Disorderly Conduct. The state police responded to a domestic dispute where Levier struck an individual and threatened the individual at a residence in Greene Township on February 6, 2017.
Amelia Mae Sims, 40, of Hawley, PA, was sentenced to 6 years of the Pike Care Program which will include 6 months of house arrest, a fine of $2,500 and a driver’s license suspension of 18 months for Driving Under the Influence and Endangering the Welfare of Children. The state police responded to a report of a woman driving dangerously with a child in the vehicle along Route 6 in Blooming Grove Township on March 11, 2016. The vehicle was located parked along the roadway, with the driver, Simms, asleep on the ground in the woods and her minor child crying next to her. When contact was made with Sims, the trooper detected the smell of an alcoholic beverage and observed Simms to be having difficulty speaking and unable to walk. Sims refused to submit to a chemical blood test.
Jonathan W. Haber, 26, of Matamoras, PA, was sentenced to 6 months of probation and fined $300 for Recklessly Endangering Another Person. While traveling along Route 6 & 209 in Westfall Township on May 25, 2017, Haber tailgated and then attempted to force an individual’s vehicle off the road.Jessica Jane Phillips, 29, of Hawley, PA, was sentenced to 1 months to 18 months in the Pike County Jail, fined $600 and had her driver’s license suspended for 6 months for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Theft. The state police discovered Phillips in a residence in Blooming Grove Township on June 23, 2017, without permission of the property owner. Phillips was also found in possession of Heroin.
