Mall robbery suspects arrested

Saunders

STROUD TWP – Police say public assistance led to the arrest of two suspects wanted in a robbery at the Stroud Mall over the weekend.

On March 20th the victim met a woman at the Stroud Mall for a “first date.” After meeting her in the mall and only staying for a few minutes they both agreed to walk back to his vehicle in the lower parking deck of the mall. The victim was approached by two men, assaulted and told to turn over his “weed and money”. After the victim informed the suspects that he did not have any but he could get them some money, he was forced into his own vehicle at gun point. The suspects then drove his vehicle to a drive-up ATM, forced the victim to provide his debit card and pin number, and withdrew cash from the victims account.

The victim was in and out of consciousness and awoke later, alone in his vehicle. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

SARPD then asked for the public’s assistance in identifying the robbery suspects (driver and rear seat passenger).

The female in this case was also interviewed. Video surveillance from a local gas station also revealed that the two suspects picked up the female in their vehicle after the robbery.

The driver, Willie Saunders, 18, from Stroudsburg, was arrested on Monday and charged with multiple counts of robbery (felony grade), aggravated assault, theft by unlawful taking and false imprisonment.

The backseat passenger, Jamaal Brome, 18, from East Stroudsburg, was arrested Tuesday and charged with multiple counts of robbery (felony grade), aggravated assault, theft by unlawful taking and false imprisonment.

Both are in the Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail each.

This investigation is currently ongoing.
