Water Gap Welcome Center reopening delayed to Independence Day

DELAWARE WATER GAP – The Pennsylvania departments of Transportation (PennDOT) and General Services (DGS) announced that renovations at the Delaware Water Gap Welcome Center at I-80 West, Exit 310 in Monroe County are anticipated to be completed before the Independence Day holiday.

The $2.5 million project covers interior and exterior renovations including: Americans with Disabilities Act upgrades; new bathroom equipment; heating, cooling and ventilation upgrades; updated wiring and electrical equipment; parking lot upgrades; exterior and rooftop drainage and repairs to the building’s façade.

The project was originally estimated to be completed by Memorial Day, with weather conditions and additional roof work adding to the project timeframe.

While the renovations are underway, the facility will be closed to public access. PennDOT has identified Exits 309 (U.S. 209/PA 447) and 308 (East Stroudsburg) as the nearest locations for restrooms, food, gas and other amenities.

Travelers seeking tourism information can visit the Stroudsburg Welcome Center or call 1-800-POCONOS.
