Wayne Pike Adult Literacy Program receives grant

HONESDALE – The Board of The John and Helen Villaume Foundation announced that the Wayne Pike Adult Literacy Program was selected to receive one of the Foundation’s 2018 community grant awards. Gary Linton, Executive Director, and Annette Petry, Board President, on behalf of Wayne Pike Adult Literacy Program, received a check for $6,600 from Villaume Foundation board members, Jon Villaume and Dr. Paula Bennett.

Wayne Pike Adult Literacy Program is a non-profit organization which provides free tutoring, textbooks, and other educational assistance to over 3,500 adults in Wayne and Pike Counties since 1986. Tutoring is offered in several public locations which are close and convenient to the adults in need. The John and Helen Villaume Foundation, established by Honesdale natives John and Helen Villaume, was created to benefit charitable, religious, scientific, literary, and educational programs within Wayne County. Since its inception, the Foundation has made awards totaling over $1,000,000 with Wayne Bank managing the account in the Wealth Management and Trust Services Division of Wayne Bank.
