Detectives nab pair during drug deal

EAST STROUDSBURG - On September 18, agents from the Monroe County Drug Task Force received information from a confidential source that they were meeting Benjamin Levine, 26, of East Stroudsburg and a friend, Ian Krueger, 27, of East Stroudsburg, in the parking lot of Weis Market in East Stroudsburg to sell him heroin.

At approximately 2:15 PM Levine arrived at the location and was taken into custody without incident.

A search yielded $40 of US currency, a cellphone he used to communicate with the confidential source and 2 empty bags of heroin in his pocket. Police determined that the confidential source had arranged to sell 4 bags of heroin to Levine in exchange for the $40.

A search of Krueger yielded a 'heroin kit', which contained a spoon, shoelace and syringe.

Levine was charged with criminal use of communication facility, attempted possession of a controlled substance, attempted purchase or receipt of controlled substance in commerce and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also charged with attempted possession of a controlled substance, attempted purchase or receipt of controlled substance in commerce and possession of drug paraphernalia.       

Levine and Krueger were transported to the Monroe County Correctional Facility where they were processed and released. Levine is currently out on $20,000 bail and they will appear for a preliminary hearing at a later date.
