Phone Store burglary suspects arrested with $40K worth of iPhones

PORT JERVIS NY – Port Jervis city police arrested four suspects following a break-in at the Verizon store on Route 209 in Westfall Township.  The suspects were found in possession of $40,000 worth of new iPhones taken from a Sprint store in the Town of Wallkill, NY.

At about 5:45 am Sunday, city police arrested Lourriston Potter, 36, of Port Jervis and Darick Sylvan, 29, and Donald Potter, 31, both of Brentwood NY. They are charged with criminal possession of stolen property, felony and misdemeanor crimes of possession of burglar’s tools, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of marijuana. Potter and a Peter Tansey, 28, of Port Jervis, were charged with tampering with physical evidence, a felony.

The defendants were arrested by city police officers about 5:45 Sunday morning after a report of suspicious activity on Brown Street in the City’s Frist Ward “Acre” Section.  Officers recovered cocaine, marijuana and the iPhones which were reported stolen during a burglary overnight at Sprint retail store located in the Town of Wallkill.  Police recovered tools and equipment connected to the Wallkill and Westfall burglaries.

The defendants were remanded to Orange County Jail pending further Court appearances. Bail was set at $50,000 for Sylvan and $10,000 for Tansey. Both Potters were held without bail. 

The investigation is continuing by the Eastern Pike Regional Police in Westfall Township, Port Jervis Police and the Town of Wallkill Police Department.
