Body found in East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG - Stroud Area Regional Police Department are investigating human remains found Tuesday afternoon.  Officers responded about 5:45 to a retention pond located in a wooded area to the West of Lincoln Avenue in East Stroudsburg and observed a dead body in the water.

The body was recovered from the water about four hours later and turned over to the Coroner’s Office.

Due to extensive decomposition the gender of the deceased has not been determined. The description of the clothing worn by the deceased appeared to be blue jeans, a grey sweatshirt, black undershirt and purple New Balance sneakers with grey socks. Officers also recovered an LG cell phone from the back pocket of the deceased. On the back of the phone was a green and black sticker “Discarded Saints MC”.

An autopsy is scheduled for today.
