Father faces new charges of assaulting, intimidating his minor daughter

Taylor

STROUDSBURG – A father was arrested and charged for intimidation of a witness and hindering apprehension.

The incident originated from another incident in June of 2018 when Deyon Taylor, 56, was arrested for assaulting a 13-year-old child. Taylor was scheduled to appear at the Monroe County Courthouse on January 4th, 2018 for a status conference.

Taylor had been living in South Carolina with his mother, paramour and minor child since August. There was a prior bail condition that he had no contact with the minor child or leave the state without notifying the court.

When Taylor arrived in court he had his paramour and minor victim from the previous case with him. He told his attorney that the child lied and no longer wanted to go forward with the criminal charges. ADA Julieane Fry spoke with the child and her mother and made discoveries that led to Taylor’s bail being revoked.

Video footage was produced showing the father coaching the child on what to tell the police and the Judge. Taylor, throughout the course of the videos told the minor child to lie to the police because if she didn’t, he would go to jail.

The child, fearful that Taylor would hurt her again is currently in confidential and secured placement with her mother.

Additional charges including intimidation of a witness and hindering apprehension were filed against Taylor who remains held without bail.
