Congressman holds town hall meeting in Milford

Cartwright

MILFORD – Congressman Matt Cartwright representing the 8th District came to a packed house in the American Legion in Milford to explain what his office can do for the people of Milford and Pike County. He began with a presentation of the six areas he and his staff are able to help. He helps people with Social Security services with a list of things from Social Security Disability claims, appeals hearings, Medicare part B issues and people not getting their Social Security.

Cartwright’s office can help people with Medicare services in the areas of billing, coverages, and prescription drug plans. He is proud of the help his office can provide to Veterans and Military personnel. They can also help with military record requests, the Veterans Health Administration, status updates on Dept. of Veterans Affairs Claims and Tricare Insurance. Cartwright explained that he has gotten Purple Hearts and Bronze Stars to veterans living and deceased.

Help can be obtained with IRS and Tax Services with everything from resolving identify theft issues to assisting with penalty and interest issues.

The last area he discussed was help his office can give with issues considered to be US Department of State issues. This may be help with getting a fast passport renewal to getting visitor passes for families wanting to tour the White House.

The congressman made a point to say that one of his main goals was economic development for Northeast Pennsylvania and Pike County. He plans on achieving this goal by promoting public awareness of federal funding, connecting communities with the resources they need to get federal grants and to make sure Northeast Pennsylvania and Pike County gets its fair share back in grant funding.

After his presentation, Congressman Cartwright answered written questions presented to him on everything from immigration issues and President’s Trumps demand to build a wall between the US and Mexico to abortion issues and second Ammendment rights.
