Man caught in sex sting gets long prison sentence

MILFORD – A Shillinton, PA, man was sentenced to 4 years to 15 years in a state correctional facility, followed by 3 years of probation and fined $1,500 for Criminal Solicitation to Commit Sexual Abuse of Children and Unlawful Contact with a Minor.  Ryan Folk, 39, engaged in a relationship via text and telephone communications with females he thought to be 14 and 16 years old, for the purpose of engaging in sexual activity, and to get them to send him sexual and nude photos. The illegal communications Folk engaged in were with an undercover police officer.

Thomas Sullivan, 33, of Dingmans Ferry, PA, was sentenced to 27 months to 54 months in a state correctional facility and fined $500 for Failure to Comply with Registration Requirements.  Sullivan who is a Tier 3 Offender as a result of prior convictions of sexual offenses in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, failed to register his required quarterly verification between September 8, 2017 and September 17, 2017. Sullivan faces additional pending charges against him.

Jan Borowy, 32, of Port Jervis, NY, was sentenced to 11 ½ months to 23 ½ months in a state correctional facility, to run concurrent to his Berk’s County Sentence, and a fine of $600 for 3 counts of Retail Theft.  Borowy took various items with an estimated value of $486 from two separate business located in Westfall Township on December 21, 2015, April 25, 2016, and April 26, 2016, without paying for the items.

Other criminal sentences issued by Pike County Court of Common Pleas President Judge Gregory Chelak:

Ronald Gregoire, 48, of Milford, PA, was sentenced to 5 years of the IP Pike Care Program which will include 1 year of electronic monitoring/house arrest, a fine of $2,500 and a driver’s license suspension of 18 months for Driving Under the Influence.  The state police came upon Gregoire who was involved in a one-vehicle accident along SR 201 in Dingman Township on November 15, 2018.  Gregoire admitted to drinking alcohol prior to driving and was observed to have problems with his balance, bloodshot, dilated eyes, incoherent speech and emitting the smell of an alcoholic beverage.  Gregoire refused to submit to a Field Sobriety Test or breath test. 

Victoria Wright, 36, of Matamoras, PA, was sentenced to 6 months to 18 months in the Pike County Jail and fined $600 for Retail Theft and Conspiracy to Commit Retail Theft.  On August 28, 2017, Wright together with her co-conspirator, traveled to a retail store in Westfall Township where they followed through with their plan to take items from the store without paying for them.  On September 29, 2017, Wright took assorted items with a retail value of approximately $410 from a retail store in Westfall Township without paying for the merchandise. 

Timeasha Smedley, 23, of Middletown, NY, was sentenced to 6 months to 18 months in the Pike County Jail and fined $500 for Access Device Fraud.  Smedley took a personal credit card from an individual between May 17, 2018, and May 20, 2018, at a residence in Delaware Township and made purchases totaling less than $500 without the cardholder’s consent.

Joseph Harrison, 22, Milford, PA, was sentenced to 6 months of probation and fined $300 for Driving Under the Influence.  The state police were dispatched to I-84 in Milford Township on August 19, 2018, where Harrison had crashed his vehicle.  Harrison admitted to drinking alcoholic beverages earlier in the day.  Harrison submitted to Field Sobriety Tests which showed impairment and a breath test confirmed a blood alcohol content of .10%.

Billi Jo McBride, 50, Port Jervis, NY, was sentenced to a $300 fine for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Eastern Pike Regional Police were dispatched to a vehicle parked along Heaters Hill Road in Westfall Township on August 27, 2008, for a domestic disturbance.  McBride was found in possession of wax paper and a straw used for the ingestion of controlled substances.
