Police investigating suspicious fire

STROUD TWP - On Saturday, March 16, at 8:36 p.m., fire departments from Stroud Township, Stroudsburg Borough, and Hamilton Township responded to a structure fire located at 138 Ryan Drive, Stroud Township. Upon arrival, the home was found to be fully engulfed.

The nature of the fire was found to be suspicious and is being investigated by the Stroud Area Regional Police Department along with the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal Unit. During the initial investigation it was learned that the occupants of the home arrived shortly before the fire was discovered. They observed a gray or dark colored four door Honda sedan driving slowly back-and-forth near the property. When confronted, a female passenger said they were “looking for their cat” and believed it went behind the home, the vehicle then left the area. A short time later the homeowner discovered a fire to the rear of the residence and the home began filling with smoke.

Anyone with information about this incident or any information about the Honda or its occupants, are asked to contact Stroud Area Regional Police Detective George Dobson at 570-421-6800 ext. 1042 or his email at gdobson@sarpd.com
