Police looking for vehicle that killed a pedestrian on Route 611

MOUNT POCONO - Pocono Mountain Regional Police are investigating a fatal hit and run accident that occurred on Saturday, May 4 at 9:56 PM on SR 611 (Pocono Blvd) between the 5 Points intersection and Wendy’s.

John Walpole, 55, was walking southbound near the shoulder of the roadway. He was struck by a passing, unidentified vehicle which fled the scene.

Walpole was transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono where he died the following day.

Through evidence left at the scene police believe a dark gray 2011-2017 Toyota Sienna minivan may be involved. This minivan would have damage to the passenger’s side headlight, windshield and side view mirror and may have damage to the passenger’s side front fender.  The vehicle would have been southbound on SR 611 towards 5 Points.
