Kunkletown man charged with promoting prostitution

KUNKLETOWN - detectives from the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office served a search warrant on May 29 at a residence in Kunkletown. Frank Marks, 57, was arrested and charged with promoting prostitution. a felony,and misdemeanor charges of stalking, hindering apprehension, harassment and patronizing prostitutes.

The investigation began two weeks prior when a detective encountered a woman engaging in prostitution. That woman said she knew the detective was coming for her because Marks warned her. Upon further investigation, detectives learned that Marks contacted the woman in February of 2019 by responding to her advertisement for prostitution online. She turned him down but eventually, they met at a hotel in Middle Smithfield Township for paid sex.

Marks sought further encounters, which were refused. He also told the woman, via text message and phone calls, that the police were watching her. He told her that he had friends who were police officers and offered to provide her with photographs, phone numbers and descriptions of undercover police vehicles in exchange for more sex.

Marks, had been arrested twice, in 2012 and 2017, for patronizing prostitutes.

When arrested this third time, on Monday, Marks admitted to repeatedly contacting the woman after engaging in sex for money. He told detectives that he is a sex addict and cannot control himself.

Marks was arraigned and sent to the Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 secured bail.
