New Main Street Bridge over Tobyhanna Creek is open

COOLBAUGH TWP – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Engineering District 5 announced the Main Street is open in Coolbaugh Township, Monroe County.

Main Street was closed in June 2018 to replace the bridge over Tobyhanna Creek between PA 423 and PA 611.

Work on the $1.2 million project included replacing the existing masonry arch bridge with a pre-stressed concrete box beam bridge, constructing new bridge roadway approaches, new guide rail, and new line painting.

The old Main Street Bridge was constructed in 1921. It was 60 feet long, and 40 feet wide. The new bridge is 75 feet long and 35 feet 8 inches wide. This section of Main Street has an average daily traffic volume of 2,120 vehicles.
