ALTOONA – Several teams from Pike and Wayne counties competed in the Odyssey of the Mind state finals last weekend in Altoona.  Two teams from Delaware Valley and one from Pocono Mountain qualified for the World Finals, at the University of Maryland in late May:

• Delaware Valley High School captured first place in “Tee Structure”.  The team held 835 pounds with their balsawood and golf ball creation.
• Dingman-Delaware Middle School took first in “The Eccentrics!” problem.  The team was required to perform an amusing skit
• Coolbaugh Elementary School placed Second in “Road Rally”, a problem involving a vehicle.

Besides the seven-minute skit, teams also had to do well in a ‘spontaneous’ competition, solving a problem without prior knowledge.
