POCONO MOUNTAINS - The Pocono Mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania will be the site of the first ever Delaware River Food & Wine Festival from September 18-21, 2008, featuring local growers and vendors.  Activities throughout the festival will include: mushroom foraging on an “edible hike”; a guided quail hunt on a private island; a scenic epicurean bike ride through countryside farms; playing “brew master” for a day; and more.  To celebrate the Festival, local Pocono Mountains partners have created food and wine-themed packages; information can be found at www.delawareriverfoodandwine.com.

The Festival’s main event is the “Foodie Fare along the Delaware” on Saturday, September 20, with tastings, wine and micro brew pairings, cooking demonstrations and seminars on various food-related topics.  The event will be hosted by the Weiler Family Foundation on the lawn at the Shawnee Inn & Golf Resort; tickets are $85 per person.
