Milford - “Going Green” has definitely become a popular concept throughout the United States, and as people everywhere continue to show concern about their environment, Ed Nikles and, Ed Nikles Jr. are no different. Recently the Nikles spent time becoming Certified Green Professionals™ (CGP). The Nikles have also designed a series of new green certified homes. These homes, known as Green Country Homes, are energy star rated. They are approximately 30% to 50% more energy efficient, and are low maintenance. They have low monthly energy costs, and best of all they are still affordable to most home buyers. Each day new environmentally friendly “green” building products are being developed and incorporated into new home construction. It is very important to ask if your builder has taken the time to educate themselves to become a Certified Green Professional™ by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). What exactly does this mean? To earn the title, the builder must successfully complete the Green Building for Building Professionals course that is offered by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). The builder must also successfully complete the Business Management for Building Professionals course and have at least two years of building industry experience. Even after those requirements have been reached, it is required that at least twelve hours every three years be spent furthering their education regarding green building and taking part in various green building activities to expand their knowledge. Building a “Green home” is a process that combines concern for the efficiency of a home and its operation, along with a desire for low environmental impact. Energy, water consumption, building design and materials, and indoor air quality are all taken into consideration during the design, construction and operation of a home. Many eco-friendly options are selected throughout the construction and operation processes to ensure that energy and resource efficient homes are built. With energy prices on the rise, it is becoming more important for your home to be energy efficient. Green Country Homes can lower your energy costs over 30% with greater efficiency in both water and energy use. Appliances are Energy Star rated, and many environmentally safe products are used throughout the entire home. |
