Possible homicide in Monroe County

CHESTNUTHILL TOWNSHIP – The body of an unidentified man was found at the intersection of Hypsie Gap and Laurel roads, around sunrise this morning.  The man had been shot in the head.  A man driving to work found the body.

The victim is described as a middle aged white male, believed to be a Monroe County resident.

Police conducted a thorough search of the area, closing other roads for a few hours.

The apparent homicide scene is less than a mile from where another unsolved homicide happened, last fall.  Lee VanLuvender was found shot to death in the parking lot of state game lands on Hypsie Gap Road.

Police say there is no indication the two deaths are connected.
