Victim of ‘suspicious death’ identified   Update

CHESTNUTHILL TOWNSHIP –  (Update) Police have now ruled the death of Steven Santillo a homicide.  He was shot several times.

The body of a Blakeslee man was found around sunrise Thursday morning, less than a mile from the scene of another unsolved homicide six months ago

Police have identified the victim as Steven Santillo, 46, who found dead at the intersection of Hypsie Gap and Laurel roads.  A man driving to work found the body.

According to one report, the man appeared to have been shot in the head, but that has not been confirmed.  An autopsy will be performed today.

Police conducted a thorough search of the area, closing other roads for a few hours.

The apparent homicide scene is less than a mile from where another unsolved homicide happened, last fall.  Lee VanLuvender was found shot to death in the parking lot of state game lands on Hypsie Gap Road.

Police say there is no indication the two deaths are connected.
