Pike recycling center temporarily shut down |
||||||
Milford – Some of of Pike County's recycling centers were shut down Thursday, after people continued to bring trash, even though the places were overflowing from the holiday weekend. "Closed" signs were posted at the Milford Township center. A similar center at the nearby Dingman Township building, which had been emptied, was operating by late Thursday afternoon. Drop-off stations in other townships reportedly have similar messes. All centers shut down are expected to reopen when trucks are able to remove the debris. Currently, the county has only three trucks servicing the nine recycling centers throughout the county. County officials have issued new warnings about dropping off stuff when the recycle bins are full, and about disposing illegal items at the centers. Signs are posted indicating what items can be left at the recycling centers. More information is available at the county’s recycling webpage. |
