Pike recycling centers reopening |

PIKE COUNTY – The mess that accumulated over the Fourth of July weekend is finally gone, and most of Pike County’s nine recycling centers should be back in operation, or will be shortly. Some of the centers, including the heavily used one on Route 209 in Milford Township, were shut down after people kept dumping despite the overflow. Even after “CLOSED” signs were posted, some people continued to dump, ignoring the signs and yellow tape. Part of the problem as the high volume of trash over the holiday weekend, and limited crews available to keep up with the accumulation. The three available trucks were working seven days a week to get things cleaned up. Pike County officials have also appealed to county residents to heed the rules about what can and cannot be left at the recycling centers. |
