Starbucks will close Route 611 store

SEATTLE – Starbucks will close its new store at the Shoppes at Stroud on Route 611.  The store is on a list of about 600 stores that will be closed as part of a cost reduction plan announced earlier this month.

A nearby Starbucks, in downtown Stroudsburg, apparently will remain open.

Altogether, the designer coffee giant plans to close 21 Pennsylvania stores.

On July 1, Starbucks announced the next step in its multi-faceted plan to transform the company, with a decision to close approximately 600 underperforming company-operated stores in the U.S. market. “This decision is a result of a rigorous evaluation of the U.S. company-operated store portfolio and includes the 100 stores targeted for closure in the company's previously announced plans”, the company said, in a News Release dated July 1.
