Most DV grads to continue their education |

Westfall – Almost 85 percent of the Delaware Valley High School Class of ’08 plan to stay in school, of some kind. Guidance Counselor Jay Tucker gave his annual report on the latest graduating class at this week’s school board meeting. DV’s graduation rate was 95.18%. The rate has been over the 95% for the past five years. DV graduated 448 students this past June. Of those students, 250 will go to 4 year colleges, 102 will go to 2 year colleges, 25 will go to a business or technical school, 45 will seek employment, and 26 have entered the Armed Services. Tucker said the 26 students entering the Armed Services is a higher number then in recent years and the explanation may be that a new G.I. Bill will have more money available for scholarships after successful completion of duty. “With the cost of college going up, it seems more students may want to take advantage of the scholarship offerings,” said Tucker. |
