DV SAT scores well above state average

WESTFALL TOWNSHIP - SAT scores in the Delaware Valley School District are 48 points above the latest Pa. state average.

Guidance Counselor Jay Tucker recently reported to the school board that SAT scores were 503 for writing, 511 for verbal, and 508 for math which comes to a 1522 total. The state average was 482 for writing, 493 for verbal, and 499 for math with a total of 1474 points.

Tucker also reported that 27 vocational technical students took a comprehensive National Occupational Competency Testing Institute (NOCTI) test. He said that 81% of those students scored above the state and national standards.

Tucker also reported there are 22 advance placement classes available for students.

Most of the students taking these advanced classes are usually in 11th or 12th grade. Getting college credit depending on their test score at the end of the year.

Next year DV will allow some 10th graders to take AP classes. The district is expecting to add two more AP classes in the next year or so.

“Some students have taken and passed enough AP classes to be admitted to college as a sophomore instead of a freshman,” said Tucker. “Imagine how much money that saves their parents,” he said.

He explained that some colleges are upping the score required in an AP class to be accepted as credit because of the number of students across the US taking these advanced classes in high school.
