Gang-related graffiti in Mount Pocono

MOUNT POCONO – Police are investigating several incidents of graffiti they say may be linked to a violent street gang.

“MS-13” was scrawled on at least a dozen locations sometime late Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.  More graffiti was discovered Thursday morning.  Among the places where the spray-painted graffiti was found was the rear of the Citizen’s Bank on Route 611.

Anyone with information is asked to call Pocono Mountain Regional Police at 570-895-2400.

According to the FBI, “MS-13” also known as “Mara Salvatrucha” has an estimated 6,000 to 10,000 members in at least 42 states and the District of Columbia.  The FBI says the threat from “MS-13 is greatest in the northeast and western parts of the country.  Most members are Salvadoran.
